"Blossom Evening"

With 2015 winding down, we find ourselves reflecting on this past year and how fortunate we are for being both healthy and happy. It was an exciting year for many of the artists who experienced very solid sales. We are looking forward to next year with the hope that this positive sales trend will continue for them.

Last month, I traveled to France with my sister, Catherine. We were in Paris when the attacks took place and although we were not in harm's way, it was an unsettling experience - one that I personally will not forget anytime soon.  Paris is such a beautiful city and I hope to make it back there soon.

When we left Paris, we headed south to Provence to visit with an artist, Fi Katzler, who will join the gallery next spring. We spent a delightful afternoon as her guests for lunch and a tour of her studio. After several days in Provence, we traveled on the train along the Mediterranean coast to Nice. It is a wonderful small city with several museums, including Musee Matisse, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

In this newsletter we are featuring Island artist Marjorie Mason who has several new works, as well as, Lori Zummo and Russell Gordon. We hope that you enjoy viewing their works and the rest of what our gallery has to offer.

For those of you who are still doing or have yet to start your holiday shopping, there is still time to receive a painting for the holidays so please let us know if you have any questions or specific interests.

Best art holiday wishes to you all and we look forward to seeing you in 2016.

MARJORIE MASON

"I give the credit for my exploration of painting to Martha's Vineyard Island itself. This is a place of astonishing physical variety and beauty, as well as, a thriving creative community. I feel very inspired to be a part of it."

Marjorie Mason was born in New York City and grew up in Florida and Massachusetts. After many years traveling to Martha's Vineyard to photograph and paint, she became a permanent year round resident in 1989.

"The Vincent House"
LORI ZUMMO

Contemporary artist Lori Zummo paints in a style evocative of the American Barbizon School. She received her BFA from Syracuse University in 1984. After receiving the first place award in oil painting from the New York chapter of the National Society of Arts and Letters in 1986, Lori was granted a full scholarship to the New York Academy of Art's Master Class program. The NYAA's extensive study program, based on the Italian Renaissance and the French Academic training tradition further enhanced her style and technique.

RUSSELL GORDON

"Plover on an Oyster Shoal"
Russell Gordon was born in 1968 in Maryland. He began drawing at an early age. He says   "In those days in school you could read or draw as soon as you were finished with an assignment so I learned that the benefit of doing well in class was the privilege of being left alone to draw. I loved drawing and found art to be the best way to record what I saw in nature and to express ideas and emotions."
