This map titled A Plat Exhibiting the State of the Surveys in the State of Florida, with References, is dated September 30, 1849 (pre-Civil War) and was compiled under the direction of Surveyor General Benjamin Alexander Putnam in St. Augustine. Putnam had been an officer in the Second Seminole War (1835-42) and was Florida’s surveyor general from 1848 to 1854. The map is tinted and in good condition with some minor foxing along the fold lines. The framing is done to conservation standards with an attractive burl wood frame.
