This original chart of the Coast of South Carolina, dated 1891, shows the location of the natural oyster beds from Raccoon Key south to Long Island. This chart was executed by the US Commission of Fish & Fisheries, which was the country’s first Federal conservation agency. It was founded in 1871 and dedicated to the protection, study, management and restoration of fish. This chart is tinted and in good condition. The framing is done to conservation standards with an attractive burl wood frame.
