This original twin hemisphere world map titled Mappe Monde, dated 1806, is by Robert de Vaugondy and was published in Paris by Charles Francois Delamarche. The map shows the world as it was known at the time though there is no mention of either the North or South Poles. The route taken by Captain Cook on his final voyage is depicted as well. There are two decorative cartouches at the center top and bottom. This map is tinted and in good condition. The framing is done to conservation standards with an attractive carved gold wood frame.
