This original nautical chart of Bass River Harbor, dated 1854, is from the U.S. Coast Survey collection. Lewis Bay and Point Gammon are featured on the left side and Bass River Harbor in the center. These charts were intended for navigational purposes by sea captains and included information relative to tides, soundings, lighthouses, sailing directions with noted danger areas and other pertinent data. This chart is tinted and in good condition with some minor foxing on the fold lines. The framing is done to conservation standards with an attractive burl wood frame.
