This original Map of the States of Maryland and Delaware, dated 1796, is by J. A Denison and was published in Boston by Thomas & Andrews. This detailed first state map includes all of the Chesapeake Bay and highlights Washington City. At left is an inset, “The Western Part of Maryland” that names the Potomack River and several mountain ridges. The counties are named and delineated and also shows towns, roads, topography and good watershed detail. The framing is done to conservation standards with a museum mat and carved gold frame.
