Yachtsman’s Guide
The Yachtsman’s Annual Guide and Nautical Calendar guided sailors, navigators, and merchants for over 85 years. With seasonal editions beginning in 1877, the Guide featured tide charts, harbor guides specifically for sailboats, knot-tying techniques, and other useful figures and statistics to guide sailors quickly and safely into harbor.
Published in New York and Boston by C. B. Hogg, the Yachtsman’s Guide and Calendar was often updated and corrected by the Army Corps of Engineers whose surveying results were the most up-to-date in terms of changes in the landscape or with more accurate measurements made possible by new technologies. The Guide ceased publication in 1964.
